ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The inception of the Department of Sciences & Humanities emanated in the academic year 2001onwards. The department influences as a fulcrum for the disciplines of English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The department has been accomplished with remarkable infrastructure to enrich the learning process among students. Seminars, Orientation Programme, Project Exhibition and Guest lectures are periodically arranged to support the knowledge acquisition of the students. Inorder to fill the void in between the school and the college, the department envisages on the Bridge Course for every first year student aiming at the integrated melioration of their learning process. The Department has a regiment of highly proficient and versatile members of faculty and non-teaching staff with state of art infrastructure for vitalizing the conducive learning environment among students.
PHYSICS
The Department of Physics, established in 2001, caters to the basic foundation course, Engineering Physics, a baseline for any engineering stream. The Department comprises of four faculties with exclusive teaching and research skills enhancing the learning curve of the students.
The Physics Laboratory is well-ventilated, airy, curtained windows, spacious, and well-furnished with 12 big experiment tables equipped with electrical points. The Lab is provided with all experimental set-ups meeting the requirements of Anna University. The Dark Room is provided with two big circular tables for performing the light experiments like spectrometer, air-wedge, and semiconductor laser. This Lab can accommodate 30 students simultaneously for the effective conduct of practical sessions.
CHEMISTRY
The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2001. It serves to provide strong foundation in Applied Chemistry which in turn serves as a baseline for all Engineering streams. The department has also undertaken the responsibility of imparting a strong foundation in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry for Chemical Engineering Students.
The department has five qualified and dedicated faculty members with Doctorate in various specialized areas of Chemistry.
The department has a well established laboratory to accommodate thirty students at a time for Engineering Chemistry Lab Class. All the instruments used by First year students are state of art and a good number of sophisticated instruments form a part of Physical chemistry Laboratory.
MATHEMATICS
The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2001. It serves to provide a strong foundation in Mathematics and its applications in engineering both at undergraduate and post graduate level.
The department of Mathematics has 8 faculty members with flair for teaching as well working on diverse areas such as Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Algebraic Coding Theory, Image Processing, , Queuing Theory, Functional Analysis, Stochastic Process and so on.
ENGLISH
The Department has been bestowed with a Language Lab with adequate software, as required by Anna University, to mould the students in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW ) skills. The labs have been fully an air-conditioned to ease the teaching and learning process.
At the first year level, the department offers two courses namely, Communicative English and Technical English, for B.E./B.Tech students and at third year, ‘Communications Skills Laboratory’, having postdated the latest syllabi of Anna University. Apart from offering these regular courses, the department manifested broadly in developing the soft skills of the students by forming a peer team of soft skilled trainers amongst the various departments. In order to enrich the learning dexterity of the students, the department takes strenuous efforts to prepare them for the competitive exams such as, IELTS, TOFEL and GRE.
The Department constantly shapes the students after the college hours to get prepared for placements, having focused on Group Discussion, Mock Interview, Aptitude and Verbal Ability

Department Highlights
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
We are glad to inform that our first year students won prizes for various events during the academic year 2020 – 21
Jeppiar Engineering College (JEC) organised ‘JEC TECH FEST 2021’ from 7th April 2021 to 8th April 2021. JEC conducted several competetion for the Engineering colleges across Tamilnadu to improve the student’s creativity and Technical knowledge among First year Engineering students.
Many of our students from Prathyusha Engineering College participated to showcase and to improve their talents through learning.
Among our participated students, Ms. Nithyashri R.R and Ms. Sneha G both from IT First year won First prize in the competition. Nithyashri R.R and Sneha G, participated as a team for Paper presentation on “Sustinable Nanotechnology” and presented their ideas on applying Nanotechnology in Modern Agriculture. Their inspiring idea was credited with first prize.
In addition to that, Sneha G also participated in Conceptual drawing and showcased her creativity and drawing skills for the given concept “India in 2040”. She showcased all the possible development of India in 2040 through her drawing and won first place.
